Celebrate safely, take a Free Ride on New Year's Eve

WINNIPEG, MB - Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and The City of Winnipeg remind all New Year's Eve revellers to celebrate safely tonight and enjoy a Free Ride with Winnipeg Transit.

The Free Ride applies to all Regular and Handi-Transit service starting tonight at 7:00 p.m. until end of service. The last buses leave downtown at approximately 1:38 a.m. For route and schedule information, visit or call 311.

As a road safety leader in the province, MPI is committed to reducing alcohol-related collisions, deaths and injuries. This is the second year in a row that MPI has partnered with Winnipeg Transit to provide the free New Year's Eve service.

Reminder - New Transit fares in effect January 1, 2013

WINNIPEG, MB - The City of Winnipeg is reminding citizens that new Transit and Handi-Transit fares go into effect on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Full and Handi-Transit cash fares will be $2.50. Reduced and Senior cash fares will be $2.00. New rates for tickets and passes will also be in effect January 1.

Your 2012 bus tickets will be accepted until March 31, 2013.

Winnipeg Transit offers a number of fare options including reduced fares for seniors and qualifying High School and Post-Secondary students. For more fare information, including pass and ticket sales locations, visit and click on FARES or call 311.
