What are Residual Treatments?
Residual treatments can be an effective supplement to larviciding by reducing adult nuisance mosquito populations in localized areas, and is an important component in an Integrated Pest Management approach. Residual treatments are considered the first line of defense in controlling adult mosquito populations.
Residual treatments are used where localized high populations of mosquitoes have been identified by spraying environmentally sensitive products onto areas of long grass and borders of bushes on public property (i.e. parks, golf courses) in order to kill adult mosquitoes in their resting place during the day. Residual treatments can reduce adult mosquito numbers for approximately a week.
