Railway crossing closure on St. James Street at Saskatchewan Avenue this weekend

The public is advised that St. James Street will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic at the railway crossing on St. James Street north of Saskatchewan Avenue starting at 7:00 p.m., this Friday, May 11 for a railway crossing reconstruction project.

Friday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, May 14 at 6:00 a.m.

WINNIPEG - May 9, 2012 - The public is advised that St. James Street will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic at the railway crossing on St. James Street north of Saskatchewan Avenue starting at 7:00 p.m., this Friday, May 11 for a railway crossing reconstruction project.

St. James Street will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14.

Local traffic will continue to have access to St. James Street at Dublin Avenue during the reconstruction.

The 77 CROSSTOWN NORTH Transit service will re-route via St. James, Saskatchewan, Route 90, Dublin and St. James in both directions during this closure. Winnipeg Transit customers may check www.winnipegtransit.com or call 311 for detailed information.

Motorists are reminded to allow additional travel time when driving in the vicinity and to use alternative north/south routes such as Empress Street, Midland Street, Century Street and King Edward Street.
