About the Service > Complaint Procedure

The Winnipeg Police Service is committed to the community and, as such, it is important to ensure that the public has complete faith in the systems that govern its police officers.

Any member of the public who feels aggrieved by the actions of a member of the Winnipeg Police Service may file a complaint at the Law Enforcement Review Agency located at 420-155 Carlton St, telephone 945-8667.

The web site address for LERA is www.gov.mb.ca/justice/lera.

If they so choose they may file a complaint at any City of Winnipeg Police Station. All complaints will be examined thoroughly to determine whether further investigation into the officer's conduct is warranted.

Any complaint of misconduct that falls within the Law Enforcement Review Agency Act shall be investigated by the Commissioner of the Law Enforcement Review Agency. Any other forms of complaint, including allegations of unlawful acts, will be investigated by the Winnipeg Police Service.

If an investigation reveals an officer has breached any rules governing conduct, disciplinary action will follow.
