About The Four District Model Project
In 2003, City Council approved a plan by the Winnipeg Police Service to proceed with a four District Model, from the former six district configuration. The East District Station opened in the fall 2008 and was the first step consolidating two stations at 228 Provencher Blvd, and 730 Pandora Ave. The West District Station is the second step and utilizes the same building design as the East District Station with only a few modifications.
Previous 6 District Model
Current Four District Model
The two new District Stations replace stations that were built in the 1950’s. The construction of the new WDS facility addresses health and safety issues for the members, the changing demographics of the service, and gives balance to the police workload.
