Attempt Suicide

On January 2nd, shortly before 1:00 a.m. a 41 year old male attended to the North Section of the Disraeli Bridge over the river threatening to jump. Two District 4 general patrol officers while investigating another matter observed this male standing near the railing of the bridge. Officers stopped and approached this male who became agitated. Officers attempted to talk to this male who remained agitated.

This male then suddenly lifted his leg over the railing and started to hurl his body over the rail. Officers were able to grab the male by the leg as he attempted to jump and were able to pull him back to safety. This male was conveyed to hospital.



On December 31st, shortly after 1:30 a.m. a 20 year old male while walking in the area of the 400 block of Alexander Avenue was approached by two males. The two males attacked the victim, striking him with a metal pipe and stabbing him with a large barbeque fork. The victim received several stab wounds to his upper body and was able to flee the area and contact police. The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The first suspect is described as wearing a white jacket, beige pants and runners. The second suspect is described as an older male with a brush cut and greying hair.



On January 1st, 2006 at 4:30 a.m. the Winnipeg Police Service attended to the 300 block of Magnus Avenue in response to a shooting that had just occurred.

Four people involved in the incident received gunshot related injuries. A 20 year old male fatally wounded in the incident has been identified as Ryan Neufeld of Winnipeg. The conditions of the 16 year old female and the three other 20 year old males remain unchanged.

The investigation is ongoing and the Winnipeg Police Service is requesting anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
