Suspicious Death

The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the suspicious death of a male at the rear of an address in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue. The male appears to have been shot and foul play is suspected.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting anyone with information pertaining to this incident contact the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

 

Arson Arrest

On January 2nd, 2006 at 8:30 p.m., police attended to an apartment block in the 500 block of Maryland Avenue in response to a fire which resulted in damage totalling $500,000.00. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

A fourteen year old youth has been arrested and charged with Arson Disregard for Human Life, Arson to Property and Breach of Probation.

The youth was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear.

 

Homicide

On January 6th, 2006 at 2:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the rear of the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue in response to a motor vehicle collision that had occurred at that location. A male was located with a vehicle involved in the collision. This vehicle had previously been stolen from PowerVac and is similar in appearance to the following vehicle.

The deceased male was the victim of foul play, a shooting, and is identified as twenty-six year old Brock Leslie KOSACK of Winnipeg.

Police believe KOSACK may have been in an area frequented by the prostitution trade and crack cocaine drug trade.
