Crack Cocaine and Firearm Arrest
On January 26th, 2006 at 9:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Operation Clean Sweep executed a search warrant in a suite in the 100 block of Academy Road resulting in the seizure of the following:
- 1.6 kilograms of Crack Cocaine with an estimated street value of $114,000.00
- A stolen handgun
- A small quantity of marihuana
- A small quantity of steroids and needles
- $2,375.00 in cash
- Various drug paraphernalia
- Various weapons including a hand gun, a set of nanchaku, a baton as well as a number of swords and knives.

A twenty-two year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose X 4, Possessing a Controlled Drug or Substance, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon X 2, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm X 2, Possession of Firearm while Prohibited, Careless Use of Firearm, Possessing a substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Fail to Comply with Conditions of Recognizance X 3.
The male was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
Drug Seizure
On January 28th, 2006, an Operation Clean Sweep investigation led officers to a residence in the 1800 block of Burrows Avenue. A search of this residence resulted in the seizure of the following;
- 866.5 grams of Marihuana with an estimated street value of $8,665.00
- 2,515 grams of Psilocybin with an estimated street value of $25,150.00
- Marihuana Seeds
- $1,500.00 in cash
A 28 year old male, a 29 year old male and a 55 year old male, all of Winnipeg, were arrested and are facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges.
