CANKERWORM CONTROL PROGRAM CONCLUDED JUNE 25TH, 2009

Cankerworm Control Program

Cankerworm Treatment crews will only be treating selected Streets within each IMA that have or are at risk of significant defoliation. Not all Streets within an IMA will be treated for Cankerworms.

Cankerworm spraying generally occurs 5 nights per week, Sunday through Thursday, from 10:00pm to 6:00am, weather permitting. IMAs to be sprayed will be announced at least 8 hours in advance of spraying operations.

The City of Winnipeg controls cankerworms on City-owned trees using the biological insecticide Foray® (Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki - Btk).
