Walk-up garbage collection service

What is walk-up service?
Our collectors will come to your door to pick up your recycling. They will then return your containers. Please leave your recycling outside your door by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

Who is eligible for this service?
Residents who:

  • cannot bring their recycling to the curb or lane for health reasons, and
  • have no one who can do this for them.

Is there a charge?
No.

Can you enter my home or garage to collect my recycling?
No. Collectors are not permitted to enter your home or other buildings.

Does this walk-up service apply to large bulky items, such as fridges or freezers?
No. This service applies only to blue boxes. To arrange for a bulky waste pick up, contact 311. There may be a charge.

How do I apply?

Do I need a note from my physician?
Yes. Your physician needs to complete Part Two of the application form.

Do I need to reapply each year?
Yes. We only approve the service for up to one calendar year at a time.

How long before I know if I qualify for the service?
About one week from the date we receive your application form. We will phone you.
