Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party Street Closure and Transit Reroute Round 3 - Game 2

Released: 10:55 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – To accommodate the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, along with associated set-up and take-down, the following streets will be closed from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14 until 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15:

  • Southbound Donald Street between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue
  • Northbound Smith Street between the Millennium Library Parkade entrance (approximately half a block north of St. Mary Avenue) to the back lane just south of Portage Avenue (to accommodate access to the Radisson Hotel parkade.)
  • Graham Avenue between Hargrave Street and Garry Street

Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Main Street and Osborne Street.

As a result of the street closure, the Donald Street entrance to and exit from the Millennium Library Parkade will not be accessible from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14 until 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15. All vehicles will need to enter and exit through the Smith Street entrance. The stairwell doors at street level to the parkade will be locked at 10:00 a.m. on May 14. Entrance to the parkade will be accessible only through the skywalk during this time.

The Millennium Library will be closing early, at 4:30 p.m., on Monday, May 14.

Winnipeg Transit buses will be rerouted off of Graham Avenue from Carlton Street to Garry Street on Monday, May 14 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the end of service to accommodate an expected increase in pedestrian traffic.

Bus Stops along Graham Avenue eastbound between Hargrave Street and Garry Street will be temporarily relocated to northbound Fort Street at Graham Avenue. Bus stops along westbound Graham Avenue between Smith Street and Edmonton Street will be temporarily relocated to westbound St. Mary Avenue at Donald Street and to northbound Edmonton Street mid-block between St. Mary and Graham Avenues.

The Handi-Transit loading zone on southbound Donald Street at Graham Avenue will be temporarily relocated to eastbound Portage Avenue next to the Radisson Hotel.

Living Prairie Museum's Prairie Plant Sales help you create habitat at home

Winnipeg, MB – The Living Prairie Museum is hosting their annual prairie plant sale with Prairie Flora. A selection of native grass and wildflower seedlings will be available for purchase to create your piece of prairie habitat at home.

The plant sale will take place at the Living Prairie Museum interpretive centre, 2795 Ness Avenue, on the following days:

  • Friday, May 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Northbound and southbound McPhillips Street to remain one lane in each direction between Logan Avenue and Jarvis Avenue until road renewal is completed in November

Winnipeg, MB – The northbound and southbound directions of travel on McPhillips Street between Logan Avenue and Jarvis Avenue will remain one lane in each direction until the road renewal project is completed in November.

Motorists should use alternate routes such as Keewatin Street, Arlington Street, or the Slaw Rebchuk Bridge.

Median lane on northbound Kenaston Boulevard closed between Carpathia Road and Willow Avenue

Released: 3:35 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – The median lane on northbound Kenaston Boulevard is closed to vehicular traffic between Carpathia Road and Willow Avenue due to a collapsed manhole. Motorists must use the curb lane while repairs are underway.

Crews are on site securing the area and expect to begin repairs Monday evening. Crews expect to complete repairs and reopen the median lane on northbound Kenaston Boulevard by Wednesday, May 16.

Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.
