Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Pritchard Avenue and Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:09 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered flames and smoke coming from the house.

Crews launched an offensive attack, but deteriorating conditions forced them to switch to a defensive exterior attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:08 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Maryland Street

At 6:08 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey home in the 400 block of Maryland Street. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home.

Crews searched the home and there were no occupants inside. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:51 a.m. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
