The first of the temporary washrooms will be located at:

It’s anticipated that four more temporary public washrooms will be installed at the following locations in the coming days:

Locations for the temporary washrooms were determined in consultation with End Homelessness Winnipeg, and other community stakeholders.

“Winnipeg has transformed since the last public washroom closed, and I’m happy to see this strategy moving forward to ensure there will be more places to go Downtown,” said Mayor Brian Bowman.

“The Places to Go Strategy is about profound human dignity and making sure that Winnipeg’s most vulnerable among us have access to basic human rights and necessities," said Sherri Rollins, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services and Parks.

The The City was allocated $670,000 in funding from the Community Response Fund for Vulnerable Populations grant provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to provide COVID-19 related support to vulnerable populations. Of this funding, $50,000 is going toward the seven temporary washrooms. The remaining $620,000 will be used to build permanent public washrooms in the Downtown area in 2021.
