Statement from Mayor Brian Bowman Announcing $10,000 in Support of Indigenous Artwork on the Bay Downtown Building
Released: 8:03 a.m.
Winnipeg, MB – Statement from Mayor Brian Bowman announcing $10,000 in support of Indigenous artwork on the Bay Downtown building:
“The repurposing of the historic Bay Downtown building represents an opportunity for renewal in a central part of our city and that’s why I created the Bay Downtown Advisory Committee (BDAC). I’m appreciative of Dayna Spiring’s efforts as Chair of the BDAC and the dialogue she has undertaken with stakeholders to replace the boarded windows with Indigenous artwork featured at the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s new Qaumajuq. In support of this effort, I’ve contributed $10,000 from my office budget and am pleased to see the federal and provincial governments joining us with contributions.”
