Winnipeg Public Library to expand services on Monday, July 26

Released: 11:50 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – On Monday, July 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Public Library will expand services at all of its branches in accordance with provincial public health guidelines. This includes collection browsing, membership and account assistance, computer use (limited capacity), printing and photocopying, as well as self-checkout and self-pick-up of holds.

Capacity at the branches will be limited, and visitors may be directed to a queue until space is available. Visitors are encouraged to plan for shorter visits.

Study tables will not be available and some seating and play areas have been removed to encourage physical distancing. Millennium Library’s ideaMILL makerspace will remain closed during this phase of opening, and class visits/tours are on hold. In addition, we will not be accepting bookings for meeting, and program rooms.

Magazines are available for checkout only. Newspapers are not available for browsing but remain available using our digital library. Book sales and donations of materials are not available. Patrons can return their borrowed materials 24/7 by using return chutes at all branches.

All visitors should use the self-assessment symptom checklist before entering the buildings. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the branches. Visitors are also reminded to follow posted signage, maintain physical distancing, and to wear a face mask. Single-use face masks are offered for customers who do not have one, while quantities are available.

Library staff will be following handwashing protocols and disinfecting frequently-used equipment and surfaces in accordance with safety standards. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of each library.
