The Municipal Cemeteries Branch

Brookside, Transcona, and St. Vital cemeteries are open. Winnipeg has been elevated to Restricted (orange) in the Province of Manitoba's Pandemic Response System. As a result of this change, indoor and outdoor public gatherings are limited to no more than 5 people.

Transcona Cemetery

Transcona Cemetery is located at the intersection of Dugald Road and the east Perimeter highway. The cemetery offers clients the use of upright monuments or flat markers. The cemetery is also home to the original Transcona Prayer Chapel, relocated here from downtown Transcona.

Our History
The Transcona Cemetery was opened in 1914 by the municipality of Transcona and is now the final resting place of approximately 5,000 deceased persons. The cemetery is an important part of the community, having a separate Field of Honour where Veterans of WWI and WWII and Service Men and Women are interred.

Contact our Customer Service Advisors for more information or to make an appointment to view the choices for an affordable interment.

Transcona Cemetery Burial Searches Available on iCemetery App
The iCemetery app is the first step in making all City of Winnipeg cemeteries' burial search information more accessible. At present, Transcona Cemetery is the only City of Winnipeg municipal cemetery available on the app.

iCemetery is easy to use. The first name and last name of the deceased are matched with Cemetery records to supply an interment site address. It is also important to check age and date of death to ensure you identify the correct record. The iCemetery database includes all interments up to the end of February 2018 and the app will continue to be updated on a regular basis.

Please note that iCemetery and the alpha listing records for Transcona Cemetery include every interment in the cemetery, but as cemetery records are transferred from paper to digital, some of the previously recorded information may contain inaccuracies or a lack of information. The public can provide feedback about any issues encountered with the app or the information provided.

If you are unable to find the location once in the cemetery grounds, staff is on site from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to provide assistance. Alternatively, cemetery visitors can contact our Customer Service Advisors to make an appointment for a staff member to meet you in the cemetery.

Please Note: the iCemetery app is only available on mobile devices at present. However, all search data is also available in the Transcona alphabetical listing on the Cemeteries Branch website.

Transcona Cemetery Burial records are available on the free iCemetery app, available for download on smart phones and tablets from Google Play and the App Store.
