Raleigh/Springfield Traffic Signals in Permanent Flashing Mode

Released: June 13, 2014 at 3:28 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Traffic signals at Raleigh and Springfield were modified this week and are now in a flashing red mode for north/south traffic on Raleigh and flashing amber mode for east/west traffic on Springfield Road. The public service would like to remind all motorists that traffic must come to a complete stop and proceed only when safe at a flashing red light and slow down, be prepared to stop and yield the right-of-way to pedestrians at a flashing amber light.

With the opening of the Chief Peguis Trail in December of 2011, traffic volumes on both Raleigh and Springfield have dropped dramatically making this change desirable. The traffic signals will remain in this location in flashing mode but will be reviewed as future development of the Palliser Major Redevelopment site at the southeast corner of Gateway and Springfield is completed.
