Winnipeg, MB – Dawson Road North Fire
At 4:43 p.m. on January 17, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire at an industrial business in the 600 block of Dawson Road North. Once on scene, crews were quickly able to extinguish the fire, keeping it confined to a small area.
One patient was assessed on scene for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire cause to be accidental. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Beliveau Road Fire
At 4:53 p.m. on January 17, 2019, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a single family home in the 300 block of Beliveau Road. Upon arrival, crews launched an interior, offensive attack on the fire, which had originated in the kitchen. The fire was declared under control by 5:40 p.m.
There were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire cause was accidental due to unattended cooking. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Residents are reminded to always stay in the kitchen while cooking. Stove burners should always be turned off when leaving the kitchen, even for a short time. Anything that can catch fire — oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels or curtains — should always be kept away from the stovetop.
