Some occupants of the block self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Others were advised by crews to shelter in place. One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics but did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Langside Street Fire
At 1:50 a.m. on June 6, 2021, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey converted residential dwelling in the 300 block of Langside Street.
When crews arrived at the address, they encountered a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Crews launched a defensive fire attack until conditions allowed for them to enter the structure and complete extinguishment of the fire. An aerial ladder was initially used but due to lightning and storm conditions, its use was suspended for the safety of all crew members. The fire was declared under control at 3:48 a.m.
All occupants of the structure self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition.
The City’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to the scene to assist displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available.
