Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Sargent Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:57 a.m. on June 10, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment block in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke and flames coming the structure. An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was declared under control at 6:14 a.m. The fire was contained to a single suite.

Occupants of the block self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Once crews ventilated smoke from the building, residents were able to return to their suites with the exception of the suite where the fire originated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
