Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Four Oaks Cove and Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires last night.

Four Oaks Cove Fire

At 9:15 p.m. on August 1, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of an outside fire near a two-storey, single family house in the 0 to 100 block of Four Oaks Cove.

When crews arrived at the scene, they observed a small fire coming from a gas meter at the side of the house. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

All occupants of the house evacuated prior to crew arrival. As a precaution, crews evacuated the occupants of two neighbouring homes.

Manitoba Hydro was called to address the gas leak and ensure the area is safe for re-entry.

The exterior of the house and gas meter suffered heat and fire damage. No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Selkirk Avenue Fire

At 11:12 p.m. on August 1, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a fenced compound in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Once on-scene, crews observed multiple vehicles on fire and downed power lines. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 11:39 p.m.

Manitoba Hydro was contacted to address the downed power lines.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
