Robbery — Arrests: C18-274547

On December 12, 2018, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a male armed with a firearm at a multi-suite residence in the 200 block of Austin Street. Upon arrival officers located a 29-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the upper body, as well as numerous other victims. The gunshot victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. She was treated and later released.

Officers searched the residence and located two adult males and both firearms.

Officers learned that both males, each armed with a loaded firearm, went from suite to suite breaking into each unit stealing items and forcing all occupants into a confined area within the housing unit where they were held at gunpoint for several hours. During this time, several residents were threatened, the firearm was discharged a number of times and one person, the victim was struck in the upper body.  

Throughout this incident, the victims were assaulted with the shotgun and a metal bar while being robbed of assorted items, which included, but were not limited to cash, jewelry, electronics, and clothing.

It was determined that the firearm was from a vehicle which was stolen on June 22, 2018. The vehicle, a grey 2014 Dodge Charger has not yet been located.

Joey Ryce CHIEF, a 27-year-old male of Brokenhead, Manitoba has been charged with:

  • Warrant for Arrest- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Warrant for Arrest- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance (X4)
  • Breach of Probation (X2)
  • Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
  • Possess of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possess Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possess Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence
  • Possess Firearm/Ammunition contrary to Order (X4)
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent (X3)
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon (X2)
  • Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence (X8)
  • Robbery with Firearm (X12)
  • Point Firearm (X14)
  • Forcible Confinement (X12)
  • Utter Threats (X12)

Lindsay Jordan MOUSSEAU, a 27-year-old male of MacDonald, Manitoba has been charged with:

  • Warrant For Arrest- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Warrant For Arrest- Fail to Appear
  • Fail to Comply Conditions of Recognizance (X4)
  • Breach of Probation
  • Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
  • Possess of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possess Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possess Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence
  • Possess Firearm/Ammunition contrary to Order (X4)
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent (X3)
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence (X8)
  • Robbery with Firearm (X12)
  • Point Firearm (X14)
  • Forcible Confinement (X12)
  • Utter Threats (X12)

Both males have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
