Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision —Investigation: C19-57914
Update:
On March 19, 2019, the 4-year-old female pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle died as a result of her injuries. The second pedestrian, an adult female, remains in the hospital at this time.

Previously Released:
On March 18, 2019, at approximately 12:00 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians in the area of Isabel Street and Alexander Avenue.
An adult female and a young child have been taken to hospital in critical condition, where they remain at this time.
Members of the Traffic Division continue to investigate and believe that several people may have witnessed this incident. Investigators are asking that motorists, including bus drivers, truck drivers, and waste management operators, check any video or dash cams that may have captured this unfortunate event.

We remind motorists to stay alert, slow down, and watch for people intending to cross the street at crosswalks and other intersections.
Weapons — Arrest: C19-58993
On March 19, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police members responded to a report of a male armed with a firearm in the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway. Two victims, an adult female, and male youth reported that as they were exiting the parking lot of a business in the area, one of the victims observed a teenage male point what appeared to be a black handgun at their car. The victims fled the area and contacted police.
Winnipeg Police quickly located the male in the area and upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a simulated firearm and a knife.
A 17-year-old male youth of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
- 2 x Possession of a Weapon
- 2 x Pointing a Firearm
- 2 x Carrying a Concealed Weapon
The accused was remanded into custody.
Assault Peace Officer - Arrest: C19-58978
On March 19, 2019 Winnipeg Police were conducting patrol duties in the Transcona area and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle to confirm the identity of the driver. Subsequent checks confirmed an adult male located in the vehicle was the subject of an arrest warrant.
Winnipeg Police attempted to take the male into custody and a struggle ensued at which time police attempted to deploy a conducted electrical weapon. The suspect attempted to disarm the officers and then made good his escape and fled. A short foot chase followed. While being chased the suspect attempted to carjack multiple vehicles before officers were able to attend and take the suspect into custody following another brief struggle
Leslie Shane Wolf STAPLETON, a 27 year old male of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences:
- 1 x Fail to Comply with court order
- 2 x Assault a Peace Officer
- 1 x Resisting a Peace Officer
- 1 x Escape Lawful custody
- 1 x Disarming a Peace Officer
- 2 x Robbery
Stapleton was remanded into custody.
