Arson — Arrest: C19-59913
On March 20, 2019, at approximately 8:40 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a male burning items inside a vehicle in the 500 block of College Avenue. The caller advised that the male removed his clothing, added them to fire and remained in the vehicle as it filled with smoke.
Several area residents attempted to convince the male to exit the vehicle prior to police arrival. North district general patrol officers attended and the vehicles front passenger seat was fully engulfed in flames. The male was located sitting in the vehicle in a state of undress. He was pulled from the vehicle and the fire was quickly extinguished by officers.
The male, 26-years-of age was arrested for Arson and transported to hospital for treatment. The male is believed to have consumed methamphetamine prior to this incident.
He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
Aggravated Assault — Arrest: C19-60787
On March 21, 2019, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a shoplifter being held by security in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue. The caller advised the shoplifter seriously assaulted an employee of a store.
Officers attended and located the victim suffering from upper body injuries. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
Officers learned that the suspect attempted to run out of the store in possession of several articles of clothing. When confronted by several employees, the suspect attempted to flee, injuring one employee in the processes. The suspect when then held for police.
A 17-year-old male has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Possess Weapon.
Homicide – Investigation: C19-57432
On March 17, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a male assaulted and suffering serious injuries in the 400 block of Langside Street. The victim, an adult male, was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He has since succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has now been identified as; William Lewis PAUL, 42, of Winnipeg.
On March 22, 2019, Winnipeg Police Homicide Detectives arrested a 19-year-old male in relation to this homicide.
Ahmed Abduikadir MOHAMED has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
He has been detained in custody.
Missing Person – Cynthia Parisian: R19-13061
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 38-year-old female; Cynthia PARISIAN. Parisian was last seen on March 7, 2019, in the North End area of Winnipeg.
Parisian is described as Indigenous, 5'1" in height, 180lbs, long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, blue vest, black pants and brown Timberland dress shoes with high heels.
