Firearms – Arrests: C19-95483

On May 3, 2019, at approximately 6:00 a.m., a North District General Patrol unit conducted a traffic stop on a taxi cab that had been parked in the area of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue.

While speaking to the two passengers of the taxi, officers observed a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun in the footwell of the backseat. Both passengers were immediately placed under arrest, and a search of their backpacks resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle and shotgun ammunition.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

Kyle Braden Roulette, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

He was detained in custody.

A 22-year-old female of Winnipeg has been arrested for:

- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon (x2)

She was released on a Promise to Appear.


Stolen Vehicle – Arrest: C19-95878

On May 3, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., West District General Patrol officers responded to the area of Pinewood Drive and Assiniboine Crescent for the report of a vehicle that had collided with a brick wall and a tree near the Moray Bridge. The lone occupant, a male, had since fled the area.

Officers arrived and located the heavily damaged vehicle. It was determined that the vehicle had been recently stolen from a nearby hotel. Prior to fleeing the collision, the male suspect had dropped some personal property that identified him. A short time later, the male returned to the area and was placed under arrest.

Emile Mario Freunt, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Theft of Motor Vehicle

He was detained in custody.

Stolen Vehicle – Arrest: C19-96189

On May 3, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m., an East District officer was travelling on Talbot Avenue when he heard a series of loud noises. The officer then came across a heavily damaged vehicle that had collided with two houses in the 600 block of Talbot Avenue.

Witnesses advised that the lone occupant of the vehicle, a female, had fled the area. At the time of the collision, one house was unoccupied, and there were no injuries to the residents of the other house. The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from the Fort Frances, Ontario area on or about April 30, 2019.

Members of the K9 Unit attended and tracked the female to the 500 block of Herbert Avenue where she was taken into custody. The female was treated by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and was later transported to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the collision.

A 26-year-old female of Winnipeg has been arrested for:

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance

She was released on a Promise to Appear and remains hospitalized at this time.


Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C19-96384

On May 4, 2019, at approximately 1:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 300 block of Ellice Avenue for the report of an injured male.

Upon arrival, an adult male in his 20’s was located suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition where he remains at this time.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
