Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C19-123479
On June 2, 2019, at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Spence Street for the report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured adult male. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C19-123481
On June 2, 2019, at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Langside Street for the report of an injured individual.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured adult male. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C19-123494
On June 2, 2019, at approximately 4:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Arlington Street and Notre Dame Avenue for the report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured adult male. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Robbery – Arrests: C19-122546
On June 1, 2019, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a North District General Patrol unit was in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street when they heard a nearby commotion and observed three males assaulting another male.
The three males immediately fled upon seeing police. One officer gave chase while the other tended to the injured victim. With the assistance of the K9 Unit, two suspects were found attempting to hide against a nearby building and were taken into custody.
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable condition. A second male victim was located suffering from injuries but did not require a transport to hospital.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the two teenage victims were walking in the area when they were confronted by three suspects who attempted to rob them.
At approximately 2:40 p.m., a third suspect was located in the 500 block of Ross Avenue and was taken into custody.
Samuel James Custer, a 23-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm (x2)
Justin Sandy, a 20-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm (x2)
He was also processed on an outstanding warrant for:
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x2)
Ralph Joseph Chartrand, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm (x2)
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice
They were detained in custody.
Homicide – Investigation: C19-123494
As previously released earlier today:
On June 2, 2019, at approximately 4:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Arlington Street and Notre Dame Avenue for the report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured adult male. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Update: The male has since succumbed to his injuries.
This investigation is being treated as a homicide and is continuing at this time by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
