Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release

Missing Person – Eduardo Balaquit: C18-117917

Today marks one year since the disappearance of Eduardo Balaquit, who went missing during the evening of Monday, June 4, 2018.

Eduardo is approximately 5'4" in height and 155 lbs in weight with a medium build. He is Asian in appearance and has black hair/brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black zip-up sweater, black pants and black shoes. Eduardo was 59 years old at the time of his disappearance, and would now be 60 years old.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate his disappearance.

It is believed that Eduardo became a victim of crime shortly after arriving for work on Monday, June 4, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Keewatin Street.

It is also believed that a blue 2010-2015 Ford Escape SE was in the area at the time Eduardo arrived for work. This same blue 2010-2015 Ford Escape SE was likely in the area of Arborg, Manitoba on June 4, 2018. This vehicle may have not been familiar to residents in the Arborg area and may have only been there for a short period.

In an attempt to determine the exact whereabouts of the blue Ford Escape on June 4, 2018 – and the days before and after – we are releasing a stock image of the vehicle.

Investigators would also like to remind the public to be aware of any unusual items they may find, particularly in the Arborg, Manitoba area. Items that may seem insignificant to the casual observer may have significant relevance to the investigation.

“Eduardo was an extremely hard worker, working several different jobs. He is a family man, and he raised a beautiful family in Winnipeg who are desperately searching for answers. His family wants, and deserves answers – as does our entire community,” said Sergeant Wade McDonald of the Homicide Unit. “So we are asking the people of this city and the province; if you think you recognize this vehicle or have information, please contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.”

Anyone with information that can assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Missing Person – Jacqueline Fayant: R19-31946

Jacqueline Fayant has been safely located.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Jacqueline Fayant, a missing 33-year-old female.

Jacqueline was last seen in the West End of Winnipeg in April 2019.

She is described as Caucasian in appearance, 5’3” in height, 120 lbs in weight and has long brown hair, brown eyes and a number of tattoos including a “Batman” logo on her upper left back, Chinese writing on her right wrist, and a large rose on her right thigh.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about Jacqueline’s well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service’s Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
