Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C19-139836
On June 19, 2019, at approximately 1:40 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision that had just occurred on Dalhousie Drive between Pembina Highway and Rochester Avenue/Baylor Avenue.
Three children were transported to hospital; a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old child in stable condition and a 5-year-old in critical condition. The 5-year-old has since succumbed to her injuries.
It is believed that the children had been in a vehicle that was travelling westbound on Dalhousie Drive at which time it collided with an eastbound vehicle.
This investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Investigators are looking for possible witnesses to this collision. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Homicide – Investigation: C19-139485
On June 19, 2019, at approximately 7:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a deceased male who had been found in a park near Higgins Avenue and Maple Street.
The death is being treated as a homicide, and the victim has been identified as Gabriel Radford Coates, a 44-year-old male.
Members of the Homicide Unit are continuing with the investigation and believe that Gabriel may have been assaulted overnight or during the morning hours.
Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding people or suspicious activity in the area to contact the Homicide Unit. As well, businesses in the area are asked to check for video surveillance that may help with the investigation.
