Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Arrest: C19-7840
Investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Division have arrested an individual in relation to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on January 11, 2019 at the intersection of Maroons Road and St. James Street.
A 46-year-old male from Winnipeg will be charged with Disobey Traffic Control Device and Drive Careless Cause Death. The male was the driver of a vehicle that entered the intersection and struck a second vehicle and then struck a female pedestrian.
As previously released:
On January 11, 2019, at approximately 3:25 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to the intersection of Maroons Road and St. James Street for the report of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 31-year-old female, was transported to hospital in critical condition where she was pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported.
Members of the Traffic Division continued with the investigation believe that a southbound vehicle making an eastbound turn collided with a northbound vehicle. The northbound vehicle then struck the pedestrian and a traffic light pole.
Investigators are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have information concerning the incident contact the Traffic Division at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C19-195058
On August 20, 2019, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to the report of a Commercial Robbery at a convenience store located in the 100 block of Keewatin Street. A male suspect had threatened the one clerk with a knife and demanded merchandise.
An investigation by the Major Crimes Unit let to the arrest of a suspect in the same area.
A 24-year-old male was charged with Robbery and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.
