Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release

Graduation of Winnipeg Police Service Recruit Class #162

The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to announce the graduation of 20 police recruits from Recruit Class #162. The graduation ceremony will be held today at 1:00 p.m. at the RBC Convention Center, 3rd Floor - Hall A.

We are honoured to have the Winnipeg Police Service Eagle Staff being introduced as part of the graduation, for the first time. The Eagle Staff is a sacred symbol that is held in high esteem and used for ceremonial purposes.

This year also represents the 20th anniversary of the Winnipeg Police Service Colours. The Colours,  which represent  the eight Winnipeg Police Service members who have fallen in the line of duty, were originally presented to the Winnipeg Police Service on Feb. 19, 1999, by Lt. Governor Yvon Dumont.

Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.

The recruit class consists of 4 females and 16 males.  Eleven of the recruits were previously members of the Winnipeg Police Service Cadet Program, Centralized Processing Unit, CPIC, and the Communications Center.

Congratulations to all graduates!
