Homicide – Arrests: C19-236401

As previously released:

On October 7, 2019, at approximately 9:25 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a male down in a front yard of a residence in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male. The male members as Darlus Dary Darrien McKay, a 19-year-old male.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and identified two male suspects who were known to the victim. It is believed that the two suspects were involved in a verbal altercation with the victim, which escalated to the victim being shot.

During the afternoon of November 15, 2019, members of the North District Community Support Unit located a suspect at a residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue and placed him under arrest. Derek Donald Franklin, a 37-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Manslaughter

During the morning of November 17, 2019, members of the North District Community Support Unit located a second suspect at a different residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue and placed him under arrest. Christopher Dakota Murdock, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Second Degree Murder
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

Both were detained in custody.


Drug Offence – Arrests: C19-269757

On November 16, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Guns & Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 600 block of Broadway and took the female driver into custody for failing to comply with a court order. A male passenger was also arrested for two outstanding arrest warrants.

A search of the female’s purse resulted in the seizure of approximately 34 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $1,700). A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a safe that was later found to contain items that include:

- Approximately 589 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $29,450)
- 27 Xanax pills (estimated street value of $135)
- 27 Ritalin pills (estimated street value of $135)
- Approximately 2 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $160).
- Approximately $241 in cash
- Drug packaging
- Scales

Lisa Mischelle Strykiwsky, a 40-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ritalin
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x5)
- Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)

Lawrence Herve Chevrefils, a 39-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ritalin
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was also processed on two outstanding arrest warrants.

They were detained in custody.


Weapons – Arrests: C19-270668

On November 17, 2019, at approximately 12:25 p.m., members of the Guns & Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 500 block of Beverley Street and took a male passenger into custody for two outstanding arrest warrants.

At the same time, officers observed the stock of a firearm inside a bag within the vehicle. The male driver was placed under arrest, and a search of the bag resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and a can of bear spray.

Tyson Shane Donald Daniels, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x3)

He was also processed on the two outstanding arrest warrants and detained in custody.

A 45-year-old male of Winnipeg faces charges of:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
