Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release

Homicide – Public Assistance Requested: C19-299390

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking the public and media for their assistance with a homicide that occurred on Christmas Day.

On December 25, 2019, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a North District General Patrol unit came upon a male down on the sidewalk at the intersection of Salter Street and Redwood Avenue. Officers determined that the male had been assaulted and the victim was conveyed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Gordon Edward Pashe, a 37-year-old male.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and believed that Pashe had been assaulted in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue before being located by officers.

Investigators are releasing images and video of a car believed to be a vehicle of interest in the homicide. The red-coloured Chevrolet Sonic was observed in the North End area of Winnipeg in the days before, during and after the incident.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the occupants is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C20-4362

On January 7, 2020, at approximately 7:28 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a bar/hotel in the 700 block of Main Street for the report of an injured male that had walked into the business. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. The male was transported to hospital where he remained in stable condition.

A male suspect was identified and at approximately 12:58 p.m., a North District General Patrol unit located the suspect inside the bar/hotel. The male resisted arrest and threatened to harm the officers while reaching towards a knife that had been concealed on him. He was safely taken into custody soon after.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation outside of the bar, at which time the victim was struck with an imitation firearm and stabbed numerous times.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at a suite in the bar/hotel and recovered an imitation firearm and a second knife.

Justin Tyler Daniel Dumas, a 25-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
