Robbery – Arrest: C20-25190

On February 2, 2020, at approximately 3:35 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a robbery at a restaurant in the 1100 block of Pembina Hwy. A short time later, police received a report of a male armed with a weapon at a neighbouring business in the 1100 block of Pembina Hwy.

West District officers responded and, with the assistance of several concerned citizens,  located the suspect in the area of Pembina Hwy and Jubillee Avenue. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody.

Officers learned the suspect first entered a restaurant armed with a large pipe wrench but holding it as if it were a firearm and demanded money from the employee. He was given approximately $300 cash and left. The staff member was not injured.

The suspect immediately attended to a neighbouring business with the pipe wrench wrapped in cloth and presented as a firearm. He demanded money from the employee while threatening to shoot him. The suspect was given less than $100 and left.

The suspect then attended to a gas station in the 1000 block of Pembina Hwy, still armed with the same weapon, demanded the employee call him a taxi and threatened to shoot the employee.  The suspect eventually left and confronted a person in a parking lot of another business.

Darrell Walter LONGCLAWS, a 41-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
