Aggravated Assault - Arrest: C20-35268
On February 14, 2020, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a male was in attendance with a victim and other occupants at a house party in an apartment in the 700 block of Maryland Street. The accused entered into a physical fight with the adult victim. During the fight, the accused armed himself with a knife and used it to inflict multiple injuries to the victim.
The victim was able to flee the suite and attended to a business in the same area and emergency services were contacted. Winnipeg Police Service members attended and located the victim in medical distress from multiple injuries to his upper body. The victim was transported to HSC and remains there for treatment.
The accused, Brandon HUNTER, a 24-year old male of Winnipeg, Manitoba was arrested and charged with the following:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
HUNTER was remanded into custody.
Assault with a Weapon - Arrest: C20-37218
On February 17, 2020, at approximately 7:02 p.m. the accused and victim were in attendance in the 200 block of Smith Street in an intoxicated state. Both parties entered into a verbal argument which then escalated to the accused producing an edged weapon and threatening the victim and her unborn child. The accused then pushed the victim to the ground and then physically assaulted her numerous times.
Winnipeg Police Service Cadets were in the area and observed the altercation, intervened and stopped the assault. Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 general patrol members then attended and took the accused into custody without further incident. The victim was attended to by WFPS personnel and taken to HSC for further treatment. There is no update on her condition.
A 24-year old male of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon
- Uttering threats
- Fail to comply with a court order (x3)
The male has been remanded into custody.
Assault with a Weapon - Arrest: C20-35447
On February 15, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m. two individuals attended to the victim’s residence in the 200 block of Dufferin Street. While in attendance with numerous other parties, one accused entered into a verbal argument with the adult male victim. The co-accused in this matter then produced a firearm and discharged the weapon, injuring the adult victim in the upper body. Both accused then fled the residence and Winnipeg Police were contacted.
Winnipeg Police Service members entered into an investigation and upon attending to the area, located the two accused and placed them under arrest without further incident. At the time of arrest a modified firearm was located along with ammunition for the same firearm.
The victim was taken to hospital and remained there for treatment.
A 15-year old male from Winnipeg, Manitoba was charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Use a firearm during commission of an indictable offence
- Careless use of a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Carry concealed weapon
- Possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possess weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possess of firearm contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Discharge a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent
A 19-year old female from Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Use a firearm during commission of an indictable offence
Both have been remanded into custody.
