Homicide – Public Assistance Requested: C20-54472

The Winnipeg Police Service continues to ask the public for their help with locating Dylan James Mousseau, a 22-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Dylan Mousseau wanted for second degree murder

Dylan Mousseau is wanted for Second Degree Murder for the homicide of Travis Joel Johnson, a 37-year-old male of Winnipeg.

On March 10, 2020, at approximately 12:02 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an injured male at a residence in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male with significant injuries. The victim was conveyed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and have obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Mousseau.

Mousseau is described as Indigenous in appearance, 6’3” in height, approximately 148 lbs in weight and has a thin build. He has brown eyes and is believed to have short black hair. He is also known to have animal paw tattoos on both hands.

The public is cautioned not to approach Mousseau. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911. Additional information that may assist investigators can be relayed to Homicide Unit investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).


Assault With A Weapon - Arrest: C20-93338

On April 29, 2020, at approximately 12:30 p.m., two arborists were working in the area of the Disraeli Freeway and Lily Street when they were approached by a male who engaged them in a conversation.

Soon after, without provocation, the male began to threaten them with an unknown large metal disc-like object. He then picked up a chainsaw that the arborists had nearby and started walking around with it.

The male subsequently started the chainsaw and began to throttle the saw while waving it around. Both arborists fled to their truck, and the male started attacking their vehicle with the chainsaw. The male then attended to the Disraeli Freeway, where he swung the running saw at passing cars and a cyclist but did not make contact with them.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrived and observed the male still in possession of the running chainsaw. After a short encounter, the male was safely taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Lionel Adolph Ballantyne, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Assault with a Weapon (x2)
- Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm (x2)
- Theft Under $5000
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment

He was detained in custody.


Aggravated Assault - Arrests: C20-85036

As previously released:

On April 20, 2020, at 4:17 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Flora Avenue for a report of an altercation involving multiple people.

Upon arrival, a large crowd dispersed and officers located several injured individuals. One male was transported to hospital in critical condition. Another male was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Update:

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and identified five suspects. Investigators believe that the five were at a party at a residence in the 400 block of Flora Avenue when an altercation occurred and moved to the street.

During the altercation, an adult male victim was stabbed and struck with numerous weapons. He suffered significant injuries as a result and was transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded.

A second victim was stabbed during the incident but was later identified as a suspect.

Johnathan Matthew Pruden, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Aggravated Assault (x2)
- Assault with a Weapon (x2)

Raymond Dwayne Chartrand, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon

Rodney Bruce Jack, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Aggravated Assault

The three were detained in custody.

A 26-year-old female of Winnipeg will face charges of:

- Aggravated Assault

A 30-year-old female of Winnipeg will face charges of:

- Assault

The two were released on Appearance Notices.


Missing Person – Robert Svonko VARGEK (AKA: Robert DYCK, Robert SVONKO, Robert CASALME): R20 13376

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 71-year-old male, Robert Svonko VARGEK. VARGEK was last seen in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg during the month of March 2020.

VARGEK is originally from Croatia and is described as a caucasian male, 5’ 11’, 213 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes. There is no description of the clothing that VARGEK was last seen wearing. He is known to frequent McDonald's restaurants in Winnipeg for coffee.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about VARGEK’S well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
