As previously released:
On May 14, 2019, at approximately 12:20 a.m., an East District Community Support unit happened upon a serious collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians at the intersection of Panet Road and Regent Avenue West/Nairn Avenue.
Officers attended to the pedestrians who were suffering from significant injuries and began providing medical treatment. Both individuals, an adult male and an adult female, were transported to hospital in critical condition and have been pronounced deceased. Efforts are currently underway to notify next of kin.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and met with officers.
It is believed that the vehicle had been travelling westbound on Regent Avenue West at which time the pedestrians crossed southbound at Panet Road and were struck.
Members of the Traffic Division continued with the investigation.
A 34-year-old male of Winnipeg has been arrested and faces charges of:
- Drive Carelessly - Cause Death (x2)
- Speeding - Cause Death (x2)
He was released on an Appearance Notice.
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with locating a missing 21-year-old female, Tina Owen. She was last seen in the south Pembina Highway area of Winnipeg at the end of March 2020. There has been no contact with her since May 7, 2020.
Owen is an Indigenous female, approximately 5’4” in height with a slim build, is believed to have long black hair in a ponytail and is transient. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, grey hoodie with an unknown logo and dark-coloured jeans.
The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about Owen’s well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
