Missing Person – Reginald Copenace: C20-159551

Update on July 12, 2020: Reginald Copenace has been safely located. We thank the public for their assistance.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 64-year-old male, Reginald Copenace. Copenace lives with dementia, and police are concerned for his well-being. He was last seen on July 8, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., in the downtown area of Winnipeg.

Copenace is described as Indigenous, 5’7” in height, medium build, short black hair and has some facial hair. He has glasses with a string attached and was last seen wearing a green-coloured striped short sleeve shirt, black shorts, black socks, and possibly wearing slippers.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for his well-being and is asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to call the Winnipeg Police Service non-emergency number at 204-986-6222.

Firearm Offences – Arrest: C20-161208

On July 10, 2020, at 7:16 a.m., General Patrol members, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and K9 Unit, responded to the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of a male armed with a firearm inside a residence. The male had threatened two females with the weapon and was still in possession of it.

As police arrived, both females were able to exit the residence, and one turned over a firearm. The male remained inside the home and refused to comply with police.

At about 10:53 a.m., the male was safely taken into custody.

A 25-year-old male of Winnipeg remains in custody and is facing charges of:

- Pointing a Firearm (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x4)
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x4)

Assault – Investigation: C20-161120

On July 10, 2020, at about 2:21 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Young Street for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured male. The male was subsequently transported to hospital in unstable condition.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
