Sexual Assault – Arrest: R20-48623

On September 6, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m., an adult female was walking in the area of Sargent Avenue and Toronto Street when she was approached by an unknown male who struck up a conversation. Without warning, the male forced her into a house in the area where he attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to flee, however, the suspect caught up to her and pulled her into a breezeway next to a business where she was seriously sexually assaulted. The arrival of a passerby caused the suspect to flee.

The victim was treated in hospital and released. Officers from Central District General Patrol were able to identify a suspect with the assistance of a business in the area.

On September 16, D11 General Patrol officers arrested:

Michael Curtis THOMAS, 27. He was charged with:
- Aggravated Sexual Assault
- Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle Another Person

He was detained in custody.
