Officer-Involved Shooting – Investigation: C20-238649

On October 7, 2020, at approximately 12: 40 p.m., Winnipeg Police received reports of a male armed with a gun in the rear lane between Boyd Avenue and College Avenue. Responding officers confronted a male in the back lane near Powers Street. Officers discharged their weapons, striking the male. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.


Sexual Assault – Arrest: C20-183456

With the public's assistance, the Winnipeg Police Sex Crimes Unit was able to identify the suspect in a sexual assault that occurred on August 4, 2020, in the 300 block of Furby Street.

On October 7, 2020, Devon Andre MCGILLIVARY, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, was arrested by East District General Patrol and charged with;

  • Sexual Assault
  • Break Enter and Commit
  • Overcome Resistance by attempting to choke

He was detained in custody.

As previously released;

On August 4, 2020, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a sexual assault that had occurred in an apartment located in the 300 block of Furby Street.

An adult female was alone in her suite when a male suspect broke into the victims' home through an unlocked fire escape door. The victim was sexually assaulted but was able to fight off her attacker and call for help when the suspect fled. The victim was conveyed to hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect is described as indigenous, between 25-30 years of age, 5'7" in height, stocky build, short black hair, wearing a blue or grey shirt, beige shorts, black shoes, black backpack, and wearing a blue surgical mask.
