Break & Enters – Arrest: C20-299084

After an extensive investigation, members of the Major Crimes Unit have charged a male for numerous property-related offences over the past two months:

- Between December 2, 2020, and December 3, 2020, a vehicle was stolen from the 1400 block of Jefferson Avenue.
- On December 3, 2020, a restaurant in the 2100 block of McPhillips Street was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 7, 2020, a restaurant in the 1500 block of St. Mary’s Road was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 7, 2020, a restaurant in the 100 block of Meadowood Drive was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 7, 2020, a restaurant in the 1400 block of Ellice Avenue was broken into.
- On December 7, 2020, a restaurant in the 1400 block of Ellice Avenue was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 10, 2020, a retail store and pharmacy in the 700 block of Dakota Street was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 13, 2020, a vehicle was stolen from the 1400 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
- On December 13, 2020, a restaurant in the 6600 block of Roblin Boulevard was broken into.
- On December 13, 2020, a restaurant in the 600 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 13, 2020, a supply business in the 800 block of Century Street was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 13, 2020, a retail store and pharmacy in the 700 block of Keewatin Street was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 14, 2020, a retail store and pharmacy in the 3900 block of Grant Avenue was broken into and stolen from.
- On December 14, 2020, a vehicle was stolen from the 1100 block of Brazier Street.
- On December 16, 2020, a retail store and pharmacy in the 1000 block of Leila Avenue and broken into and stolen from.
- On December 19, 2020, a restaurant in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West was broken into and stolen from.
- On January 26, 2021, a retail store and pharmacy in the 1700 block of Plessis Road was broken into and stolen from.
- On January 26, 2021, a retail store and pharmacy in the 1100 block of Henderson Highway was broken into and stolen from.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified, and on January 28, 2021, detectives with the Major Crimes Unit executed a warrant at a residence in the first 100 block of Dalhousie Drive. A male suspect was taken into custody, and a quantity of stolen property was recovered.

Maverick Rock Woodhouse, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Break Enter & Theft – Place (x15)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

He was detained in custody.

Stabbing – Investigation: C21-23504

On January 30, 2021, at 2:45 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the St. John’s area for a report of a stabbing that had occurred after a robbery.

A 35-year-old male had been bicycling in the 500 block of Aberdeen Avenue when he was pushed off his bike by a male suspect and robbed of his property. During the course of the incident, he was stabbed. The victim was able to return home at which time police were contacted.

The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Stabbing – Investigation: C21-24069

On January 30, 2021, at 8:51 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Main Street and Logan Avenue for a report of a stabbing that had occurred on a Winnipeg Transit bus.

A 16-year-old male victim had been riding the bus when he was stabbed by a female passenger unknown to him. The female then fled the bus. It is believed that the incident was unprovoked.

The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Stabbing – Investigation: C21-24236

On January 31, 2021, at 2:18 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Lizzie Street and Alexander Avenue for a report of a stabbing that had occurred during an attempted robbery.

A 22-year-old male victim was in the area with his girlfriend when he was approached by an unknown group (one male and two females). The male attempted to rob the victim and stabbed him during the incident.

The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Suspicious Death – Investigation: C21-24453

On January 31, 2021, at 11:36 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence in the 800 block of Bannatyne Avenue after receiving a report of an adult male that was not responsive.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located the male, and determined he was deceased. His death is considered suspicious at this time and members of the Homicide Unit are investigating.
