On February 18, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Winnipeg Police Central District General Patrol officers responded to the area of Ellice Avenue and Furby Street in response to reports of a male armed with a gun.
Responding officers located a male matching the description provided by callers. The suspect was ordered to keep his hands in the air but refused to comply and attempted to flee. The suspect then reached into his sweater and dropped a carbine rifle on the ground while running.
Officers seized the rifle and continued to pursue the suspect to the 400 block of Agnes, where he was arrested without incident. The gun was subsequently determined to be an airsoft rifle.
Brent George JONES, 23, of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Possess Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release x 2
He was detained in custody.
The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit (MCU) continued to investigate a nightclub shooting in the 500 block of Portage Avenue, which occurred on August 1, 2020.
The suspect Carson Ray Mario MCIVOR’s whereabouts remained unknown, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Over the next few months, MCIVOR continued to evade arrest.
On February 9, 2021, at 9:00 p.m., the Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, located MCIVOR hiding at a hotel near the airport. MCIVOR smashed out a hotel window attempting to escape. He was safely taken into custody, and nobody was injured during this incident. No firearms were recovered at this time.
Carson Ray Mario MCIVOR, 19, of Winnipeg, was charged with 15 firearms and assault-related charges. He was detained in custody.

On August 1, 2020, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a nightclub located in the 500 block of Portage Avenue for a report of shots fired. Responding officers located three adult victims, two males and a female. All three were taken to hospital in critical condition; however, the victims have since been upgraded to stable.
An investigation by detectives from the Major Crimes Unit has identified a suspect in this incident. An arrest warrant has been issued for Carson Ray Mario MCIVOR, 19, for multiple firearms and assault charges.
On February 18, 2021, at approximately 7:20 p.m., emergency personnel responded to Bishop Grandin Boulevard and Dakota Street for a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, an adult male, was transported to hospital in critical condition and has been upgraded to stable condition
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has spoken with investigators.
