Weapons – Arrest: C21-47626

On March 2, 2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of threats being made to a woman in the city's northeast corner. The threats involved using a firearm, and the caller advised that the suspect had access to guns.

Multiple police units were assigned, including Air1. Officers were able to determine that the suspect was still at a residence somewhere in Notre Dame Avenue's west end. Air1 observed a male at the rear of a single-family home going back and forth, placing cases in the trunk of a vehicle.

At approximately 3:25 a.m., a suspect male was placed under arrest. Officers discovered a number of firearms in the vehicle and subsequently more firearms and ammunition within the residence.

A 33-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with 22 firearms-related offences and possessing body armour. He has been detained in custody.

Officers seized:
- Glock handgun
- M16 rifle
- Semi-auto shotgun
- Break-action rifle
- Bolt-action rifle
- Semi-auto rifle
- Multiple rounds of ammunition
- Numerous firearm magazines

This investigation is ongoing by members of the Major Crimes Unit and the Guns and Gangs Unit.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Fatal: C21-49223

On March 3, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to Murray Avenue and Lyra Gate for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 29-year-old female, was transported to hospital in critical condition and has succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was identified at the scene and has spoken with investigators.
