Homicide – Arrest: C21-56188

During the afternoon of March 17, 2021, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit arrested Alvin Joseph Glen NELSON, 34, in the South end of the city for the murder of 30-year-old Russel GIBEAULT.
NELSON and the deceased GIBEAULT, both of Winnipeg, were known to each other when they became involved in a physical altercation at a residence on March 12, 2021, at which time GIBEAULT was killed.  
Alvin Joseph Glen NELSON has been charged with Second Degree Murder and has been detained in custody.
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance.
 
As previously released:
On March 12, 2021, at 4:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to the report of a male who had been assaulted in the 400 block of Agnes Street.
Officers located Russel GIBEAULT, 30 of Winnipeg, who had been seriously assaulted within the residence. He was transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and are asking for public assistance in locating Alvin Joseph Glen NELSON, 34, of Winnipeg.
A Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder has been issued for NELSON’s arrest. 

NELSON is described as an Indigenous male, 5’11” in height, with a medium build. He has brown eyes and black medium length hair, with a mustache and goatee. He has a skull with horns tattoo on his left forearm.

The public is cautioned not to approach NELSON. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911. Additional information that may assist investigators can be relayed to Homicide Unit investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
