April 6, 2021 Media Release
On April 5, 2021, at approximately 12:15 p.m., a 17-year-old female was walking to school in an East Kildonan neighbourhood when an elderly male driving a white van approached her. The male demanded that she get into his vehicle. The victim refused, ran home and notified her mother.

East District General Patrol members located the male and the vehicle at his residence, where he was placed under arrest. The Winnipeg Police Service Child Investigations Unit took over the investigation.
Ralph Gauthier, an 84-year-old of Winnipeg, was charged with attempted abduction and criminal harassment.
He was released on a Release Order.
