On April 6, 2021, shortly after midnight, the Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were called to the rear of 33 Hargrave Street for a report of a garbage bin fire. A female was located in the bin and succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Chantelle Talarico, 30.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the incident and do not believe the fire was intentionally set.
Detectives are hoping to speak with anyone who may have talked to Talarico during the evening of April 5, 2021.
Investigators are also interested in speaking to the pictured male & female who came across Talarico’s abandoned bike and may have spoken to her just prior to the fire.

On April 24, 2021, at approximately 9:43 p.m., emergency personnel services responded to the area of Henderson Highway and Kimberly Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision.
A vehicle (later determined to be stolen) had been observed driving dangerously at a high rate of speed before colliding with another car and causing a significant crash.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was determined to be impaired and was taken into custody. He was subsequently transported to hospital where he was treated and released for injuries sustained during the collision. The driver of the other vehicle did not require a transport to hospital.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from the Minto neighbourhood overnight between April 20-21, 2021.
A 32-year-old male of Berens River is facing charges of:
- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
He was later released on an Appearance Notice (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
