Between April 6 and May 7, 2021, more than a dozen businesses, including restaurants, gas bars and convenience stores throughout Winnipeg, were broken into. Approximately $38,000 in cash and goods were stolen and resulted in $13,000 worth of damage to these businesses.
The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of General Patrol officers, undertook an extensive investigation linking the same suspect to these offences.
On May 7, 2021, at approximately 5:00 a.m., General Patrol officers who were aware of these break-ins observed the suspect in a stolen vehicle in the area of Government Avenue and Gateway Road, where he was taken into custody.
Nickolas Walter COMBOT, 30, of Winnipeg, was charged with:
- Break and Enter x16
- Possess Goods Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 x2
- Failing to Comply with Probation x2
He was detained in custody.
