On May 11, 2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., North District officers responded to a report that someone had a gun while inside a residence in the 500 block of Boyd Avenue.
A male who was known to the four occupants of the residence knocked on the door requesting entrance. Reluctantly they let him inside, where he went upstairs with one of the occupants. Without warning or provocation, he took a sawed-off shotgun out of his bag and fired a round through one of the bedroom doors. Nobody was injured, and the occupants called the police while hiding in the basement.
At 2:43 a.m., police located the suspect within the residence, where he was safely taken into custody, and the firearm was seized.
A 37-year-old male of Winnipeg is in police custody and is facing firearms-related charges.
On May 10, 2021, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a Central District General Patrol unit was in the West Broadway area when they observed an assault occur in the drive-thru of a restaurant.
A driver (male in his 30’s) was in his vehicle when an individual randomly approached and asked the driver to purchase him a cup of coffee. When the driver declined, the individual reached through the open driver-side window and punched the victim in the face – causing an injury.
Officers immediately placed the suspect under arrest.
Sean Fielding Marshall, a 39-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
He was detained in custody.
On May 10, 2021, at approximately 2:25 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a deceased person located within an apartment in the 600 block of Maryland Street.
The deceased victim has been identified as Jasmine Normand, a 27-year-old female of Winnipeg.
On May 11, 2021, a post-mortem examination determined Normand’s death to be the result of a homicide.
The Homicide Unit asks for the public’s assistance to establish Jasmine’s whereabouts, activities, and people she may have had contact with in the days leading up to her discovery.
