Drug Investigation: C21-109288

On May 15, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Winnipeg Police Service officers were working in the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue. During the arrest of an adult male suspect, two WPS officers and the suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All three required treatment in hospital.
 
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has been notified and will assume responsibility for the investigation. No further information is available at this time. 

Serious Assault – Investigation: C21-109475

On May 15, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Central District officers responded to Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street for the report of an attempted strongarm robbery.

The victim, an elderly female in her 90’s, was standing at Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street, holding onto her walker. The victim was confronted by an unknown female who attempted to steal her walker, causing her to fall to the concrete, rendering her injured and incapacitated. The suspect was unsuccessful in stealing the walker and subsequently fled on foot. 

Bystanders in the area quickly assisted the victim, who was transported by ambulance to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition. 

The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
