On May 20, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., North District officers responded to the riverbank along Scotia Avenue near Kildonan Park for the report of a female in distress who had entered the water and was screaming for help.
Officers arrived at the riverbank in complete darkness, only to hear splashing water and cries for help. They quickly ascertained her location, approximately 40 feet off the shore stuck in the current. They used a rope provided by a nearby resident to form a human chain. Officers swam out securing the rope around the victim and safely brought her back to the shore.
