Homicide – Arrests: C21-114204

As previously released:

On May 20, 2021, at 3:52 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Burrows Avenue for a report of a dead body at a residence.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased individual. A post-mortem examination has confirmed the death as a homicide, and the victim has been identified as Trevor Clayton Dorion, a 33-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit have charged three people with first degree murder for the death of Trevor Dorion – a woman he was in a relationship with (Kirkness), and two others also known to him.

Investigators believe that on May 8, 2021, Dorion was at his residence, at which time he was assaulted over a prolonged period. As a result, he succumbed to his injuries, and his body was concealed within the home.

On May 20, 2021, members of the Winnipeg Police Service received information that a deceased individual was at the residence and recovered Dorion’s body.

On May 30, 2021, two suspects were located and placed under arrest.

Cary Phoenix Atkinson, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, was charged with:

- First Degree Murder

Season Jade Lavallee, a 26-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- First Degree Murder

They were detained in custody.

On June 8, 2021, a third suspect was located and placed under arrest.

Shelly Ruth Kirkness, a 34-year-old female of Winnipeg, was charged with:

- First Degree Murder

She was detained in custody.

Firearm – Arrest: C21-131116/C21-131112

On June 8, 2021, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Central District officers responded to the report of gunshots heard in the area of Home Street and Ellice Avenue.

Police searched the area and approached the driver of a vehicle at a nearby gas bar. Upon seeing the police, the driver immediately fled in the vehicle.

The suspect drove a short distance, where he and a male passenger both abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was taken into custody near William Street and Tecumseh Avenue; while, the passenger was not apprehended. A loaded handgun was subsequently located within the vehicle.

A 15-year-old male was charged with several firearm and driving-related offences. He was detained in custody.
